Las Vegas Engagement | Candice & Gary
“It had long since come to my attention that people of accomplishment rarely sat back and let things happen to them. They went out and happened to things.” – Leonardo Da Vinci
Accomplishment can mean a variety of things. To me recently it means stepping outside of my box, or my comfort zone, as they say. It is pretty obvious if you look at my website, Facebook page or Instagram that I pretty much bleed #thegreatPNW. Washington has my heart and I am smitten with all things lush and green. However, I absolutely adore exploration and adventures to new and different places.
Enter Las Vegas (aka Sin City). Now, I’ve been to Vegas before, as many of-age adults have. But this time was different. I was here for a photography convention and expo (WPPI) and my experience was unlike any other trip to the desert before. It wasn’t about shows, gambling, indulgences, food or parties. This was all about inspiration, ideas and broadening of horizons. So, while I was in the area I figured why not make the most of it and try something new. What better “new” experience than a photo shoot in a completely different type of location from what I’m used to. And you know what, I was a little nervous at first. So much red as opposed to so much green! But oh man did it work out for the best. The warm desert sun (although the temperature was not in fact all that warm) and all the new and different foliage was just captivating. I am a sucker for palm trees and cacti, so yeah, it was pretty great. Although I learned the importance of watching your step and what you run into around such foliage, that’s for sure.
Candice and Gary were amazing subjects to photograph. So in love and so up for anything. And Candice just so happened to pick the most amazing teal dress that contrasted the red rock backdrop just perfectly. It was like a dream. So to me, no matter the outcome, I feel accomplished after completing this shoot. And I’m damn proud of the result. And what’s even better is that my mind is spinning with even more out-of-the-box ideas. Bring it on!
